What is love? It is simply the essence of reality. This is hard to accept when I believe in the reality of good and evil and the concreteness of physical matter. If I refuse to examine my unproven assumptions about reality, this essence will remain invisible. So, a little unbending is necessary to enable a change of perspective.

Have you ever held a newborn child in your arms, looking at you, looking right through you? Then you know that love is real.

Did you ever freely accept the gift of a spontaneous smile? Then you know that love is real.

Were you ever touched by the beauty of a simple flower alongside the path you were walking? Then you know that love is real.

Did you ever hear a song playing in the supermarket that made you almost cry with joy? Then you know that love is real.

Did you ever change your mind suddenly, spontaneously accepting what you were determined to attack? Then you know that love is real.

Were you ever enthusiastic about anything, without immediately trying to gain from it? Then you know that love is real.

Did you ever discover that you could simply be of help to someone? Then you know that love is real.

Did you ever experience a breakthrough of humor in a troublesome situation? Then you know that love is real.

Could love be real, if you or I were not?

These experiences are miracles, as natural as they come, just to show what I am, what you are, what reality is.

One Response to “I am because I love”

  1. We love, we hate, but we always love before we hate which is us questioning ourselves.
