“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” Philippians 2: 13

“Don’t be concerned about anything – wonderful things are happening!… Because God is all there is, and He is expressing Himself. The results have to be wonderful.” Wonderful Things are Happening, Dorothy Rieke

Yesterday I received an email with the subject: “Christian Reciprocal Link.” The email read:

“Greetings in His Mighty Name.

“We have a great deal in common, so I felt it appropriate to contact you. We are developing an “electronic outreach” to select God centered websites, churches, ministries, businesses, and such. I am contacting you today to request a “reciprocating link” from your site to mine.

[…]”Our offer to you is summed up by saying we desire to “wash feet” electronically, and “feed sheep” globally…. The reason we can do this is because it is our honor, mandate, and call to create no cost web solutions and promotions for the entire Body.”

The website is called Christian Banner Swap.

Although I am not what you would call a traditional Christian, what I appreciate about this email is that it is a reminder that we are all working for the Body of Christ, the One Brotherhood of Man.

In truth, there is only one doing the work of God and it is God alone.

“Now, this one and only divinely active God does all the doing in the universe. Not only does He do all the creating, but all the knowing, all the understanding, all the expressing. He does all the regulating, all the governing, all the controlling. He does all the relating, the associating, the environing. God doing all the planning, all the outlining, is a very important basic truth which we must accept in our expectation of wonderful things happening.” Wonderful Things are Happening, Dorothy Rieke

If you are inspired to set up a website, a church, write a book, produce an album or film, or whatever, it is important to remember that it is God doing the work through you. And God’s work is always for the collective Body, the Brotherhood of Man. In other words, God does not play favourites; either God supports everyone or supports no one.

The problem is when well-meaning people try to do God’s work according to their will. If you believe God’s work is supposed to meet only the needs of a certain group then your work is dependent on the demand of the group you are providing the service for. When they lose interest and stop supporting you, there is no longer a demand for your service; and you’re out of a job.

There is only one group that I serve and it is the One Brotherhood of Man.
