I think your question is very insightful, Colleen, because it points to the greatest mystery in existence: why did we being part of God, part of Truth, part of undivided Oneness, turn away from all this eternal bliss and teach ourselves this painful illusion of separation? Why did we immerse ourselves so deeply in this dream of loss and death? You might say our divine power shows in the fact that we could accomplish this feat of learning what is impossible. It’s impossible because no One can separate itself. That’s why it can’t and doesn’t have to be made undone. It never happened. Given the fact that separation is an illusion I only have to deal with it on its own level to help the dreamer wake up. This means I can see it as a learning process - a Self-realization that uses the illusion of time and space to proceed step by step until the point where these means of illusion won’t be necessary any more. Truth will take it from there completely. Therefore even Self-realization belongs to the illusion but necessarily so because I have closed my mind, my daily consciousness, to the Truth too convincingly. Now, at every step, every act, every thought of mine I have a choice. I can choose to do it my way, the painful way, or simply surrender. To give Truth a chance here and now I have to give up my judgment of good and bad, realize my foolishness and offer the whole mess to God - my Higher Self, The Holy Spirit, my inner wisdom or whatever concept fits my creed. Blessed are the poor in Spirit because only by letting all my own valuables drop out of my hands can I be restored to my real wealth - the Truth. And this can happen any moment, again and again, as long as time is relevant for me and I’m willing. Stan Schaap |
