Dear Sally, When my 5 children, now adults, were teenagers, I used to take them to satsangs with Sw. Satchidananda; invariably they would fall asleep. But I know the wisdom sunk in as they have become loving and caring adults. Your students may fall asleep during their meditation but these lessons will pay off later when they need to recover their own center of stability out in the world on their own. For teens and older I have had success with teaching the meditation of following the breath. To listen to each breath in and each breath out. And, importantly, to breathe evenly in and out and not hold the breath at any point in the cycle. Let your students know that even in and out breathing is an aid to calming their mind when agitated or to cool off enough to think clearly. Emotion, thinking, physical are aspects of ourselves that can be brought back into harmony by consciously breathing evenly in and out. Try this out for yourself first. My best to you and your students,
