Dear Stan,

Thank you for this site. I have been on a journey all my life and it seems to me that there may not be one truth to fit all. However, I have some suggestions that others may wish to consider. I may be a slow learner but it took me many years to come up with this. It has helped me overcome manic depression so has a practical value. It is very simple and does not require any sacrifice, other than abandonment of hate. I have found it will not work if there is any hate.

First accept, logically, that there is no god. Then invent a god. The name of this god is unconditional love. Pray to this god. Focus and send out pure love. Do not ask for any future of any kind. Thank god for everything which has happened in the past. Be happy to die at that moment with no afterlife.

This works for me. It solves the problem of doubt as my "faith" is in atheism. My doubt is full of joy and love. I no longer have to wrestle with a religion based on a morally dubious god and I am full of love for the whole world. I cannot change other people but I have changed myself and people around me benefit from this (I do not pretend to perfection or even anywhere near it. I am only a thinking animal).

I do not believe that this god is real. It is obviously part of my mind that has created a comforting illusion. The love that pours back to me is just a reflection of my own thoughts and feelings. But I have doubts.

Regards
