This conversation I had w/ my co-worker today made me smile and I just had to share it somewhere. My co-worker is from Romania (I work in Spain) and he had invited me a while back to visit him in his hometown. So today is his last day on the job and we were talking about the invitation and if I would come visit him. I said "Well, since I don’t make plans for the future I really don’t know what will happen, but I would love to come visit you in Romania." And he looked at me with a strange glance "But you have to make plans, or you will never get anywhere!" So I responded, "Well I just have a collection of ideas, and when the time feels right I may pursue one of those ideas or maybe something completely different." I continued "and since I don’t make plans, I never am expecting anything, so I avoid a lot of problems." His response was then "But if you do that, you will always be living in the present moment...” I instantly retorted "Well OF COURSE!" I couldn’t help but laugh at his comment because this is something I’ve been pursuing for a while... to live in the present moment. And here somebody refers to living in the present moment as if it were unnecessary or out of the ordinary. So again, this little moment made me smile and I thought I´d share it with somebody. Thank you for reading. =) |
