I've often found that God and religion get mixed together. You say you're not religious but are looking for meaning. What works for me is a belief in God as a living being and creator of us and our whole universe, but yet I have no real religious beliefs. I don't negate it but I find it hard to believe in. And just because a person doesn't have a religious affiliation doesn't mean they can't have a spiritual one. And I find it clouds people from dicovering God in their own way.
