I think the problem is that our egos are constantly expanding, to the point we can't control them anymore. I read this awesome book about it, Kabbalah Revealed, which really struck a chord in me. It explains that not only are our egos exploding, but that soon we won't be able to stop them from going rampant, unless we unite and somehow pull together. The interesting thing about it is that it was written 3 or 4 years ago but still sounds like it was written yesterday. I guess it means something about the author (or at least the content LOL).
